Hello! Welcome to my page.

Bikas

I am a Graduate Student at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), majoring in Computer Science. I joined here as a Ph.D. student in Fall 2013, but due to some unavoidable personal reasons, I am graduating with a Master's degree in December 2016.

About Me

I received both my Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from Shahjalal University Science & Technology (SUST), Bangladesh with distinction in 2013 and 2008 respectively.

After completion of my Bachelor degree, I worked as a Software Engineer at SDSL for about two years starting from 2008. I mainly worked in a Navigator project for blackberry mobile platform, developed using Blackberry native API that supports real-time navigation. I also contributed to a map server project, which is a web-based map service provider like Google maps and worked on a desktop-based chatting software like gtalk. I have over 950 posts in Blackberry official support forum in Java development section, and my rank is 8th in that forum among all blackberry experts.

In 2010, I joined as a Lecturer of the CSE department at SUST. During my three years of teaching career at SUST, I have supervised many undergraduate thesis students. Some of our explored research areas are Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, Networking Security, etc. So far, I have authored 17 research articles published in different national and international journals and conferences. These research articles already have over 330 citations. I was also involved in various projects running in my department such as University Admission Process Automation and SMS Based registration system for admission test at SUST and eight other public universities in Bangladesh.

During my time here at UIC as a Ph.D. student (Fall 2013 - Fall 2016), I have worked as a Research Assistant (RA) under Dr. Mark Grechanik from Fall 2014. I was mainly working on improving elasticity property of cloud computing using software engineering artifacts. During Fall 2013 and Spring 2014, I worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) in the Computer Science department. I also did two summer internships as a software engineer, one at Godaddy during last summer in 2016 and another at ARRIS during summer 2014.
